In response to the positive reception from Vietnamese customers, MG officially enters a new chapter under the distribution of SAIC Motor Vietnam Co., Ltd. (SMV), a direct subsidiary of the brand’s parent company, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC Motor).

Position as a leading global automotor

SAIC brings stronger growth potential for MG, setting a goal to rank among the top vehicle providers in Vietnam within 5 years, backed by a diverse product strategy and exceptional customer experiences.

Since July 2023, SMV has officially assumed the role of operating and exclusively distributing MG vehicles in the Vietnamese market, including genuine spare parts and authorized maintenance/warranty services from SAIC Motor.

Mr. Tran Nam Thang, Sales and Marketing Director of SMV, shared his perspective on the potential of the Vietnamese auto market: “With a large population, remarkable economic growth, and an increasing transition from motorcycles to automobiles, Vietnam has been identified as a key strategic market in the international expansion campaign of SAIC Motor and SMV.”

SMV’s goal for the next 5 years is to secure a leading position in Vietnam’s automotive industry, with an expected annual sales volume of around 100,000 MG vehicles, accounting for approximately 12% of the market share.

Currently, the company is finalizing the appointment of its 3S and Premium dealership network. By Q4/2023, 36 authorized 3S dealerships were slated to be operational under SMV. Furthermore, SMV is planning the construction of a manufacturing plant to contribute to the development of Vietnam’s automotive industry.

Product lineup diversification

Regarding segment positioning, alongside the existing MG5 and MG ZS models, MG is diversifying its product lineup to meet the needs of diverse customer segments, especially young, modern buyers. The brand focuses on global new-generation portfolios equipped with modern technology that align with sustainable trends at accessible price points ranging from 500 to 800 million VND. 

“We believe MG customers will experience values deeply rooted in our 100-year British heritage from stylish design to reliability and an exhilarating driving feel,” Mr. Tran Nam Thang added.

In addition, SMV reaffirms its commitment to existing MG owners by maintaining the 5-year, unlimited-mileage warranty policy, ensuring customers can enjoy seamless journeys with complete peace of mind.
