The MG RX5 is the newest name in the SUV segment, launched by SAIC Motor Vietnam this past September 2023. The model has earned praise for its impressive design, comfortable interior, powerful performance, and modern technology.

Boldly sporty design

MG RX5 makes a strong impression from the front with a series of modern and dynamic details. Its large hexagonal grille features a sculptural 3D embossed structure, a design often seen on luxury models. Meanwhile, modern LED headlights sit on both sides of the grille, creating a wider and more imposing appearance.

The car body features a fluid design with strong, sculpted character lines. The highlight comes from the robust 5-double-spoke wheels, which measure up to 19 inches and feature a two-tone finish. The rear further enhances the sporty look with aerodynamic details, including a diffuser under the front bumper and a raised rear spoiler. Meanwhile, the LED taillight cluster features eye-catching graphics that give the MG RX5 a distinctive and recognizable look.

Modern interior trend

The space inside the MG RX5 clearly reflects contemporary design trends, thanks to integrating multiple technologies such as a 14.1-inch central entertainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. This system comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity so that users can easily use phone functions, ensuring on-vehicle safety.

Depending on the version, the car offers a range of convenient features, including cruise control, a panoramic sunroof, and an acoustic windshield. It also offers an automatic tailgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, and adjustable rear seat backrests for greater passenger comfort.

Confident performance

The MG RX5 equips a 1.5L turbocharged direct injection gasoline engine, producing a maximum output of 168 horsepower and a peak torque of 275 Nm. This is the largest torque level in the segment, partly thanks to the application of a Honeywell turbocharging system with high-flow compressor blades that increases air intake by 15%. The real-time electronic control unit helps control the air intake volume appropriate for different operating conditions, thereby delivering a responsive and smooth reaction when driving in the city or uphill.

In addition, the engine pairs with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission contributes to providing durability along with good acceleration capability. The driver easily controls the transmission via an electronic gear shifter – a rare feature in the C-segment SUV class.

Additionally, the suspension system of the RX5 features front MacPherson and rear multi-link, creating a stable driving feel on straight roads and smoothness when crossing rough roads.

Safety beyond expectations

The MG RX5 is equipped with many modern technology and safety features such as: Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Electronic Stability Program (ESC), Active Rollover Protection (ARP), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), Hill Descent Control (HDC). The MG RX5 1.5T LUX version adds 2 more airbags (total of 6 protective airbags), a 360-degree camera, and front parking sensors.

Furthermore, the chassis structure with over 65% high-strength steel plays an effective role in protecting passengers. The high-strength chassis structure will minimize impact by absorbing energy from collisions, bringing maximum safety to vehicle occupants. In particular, parts and components of the MG RX5 come from world-leading suppliers such as Bosch, Michelin, Denso, Hasco, Autoliv, Continental, Sachs, etc.

The MG RX5 is officially distributed in Vietnam, making it the first Southeast Asian market to welcome this model. It comes in two versions: MG RX5 1.5T STD at VND 739 million and MG RX5 1.5T LUX at VND 829 million, including VAT. To celebrate MG’s 99th anniversary, the first 299 customers can enjoy special pricing. The MG RX5 1.5T STD costs VND 699 million, while the 1.5T LUX costs VND 799 million, including VAT.
